Otherside

Earlier this year we had to find a song with a poetic meaning for English. I had chosen the song 'Otherside' from Macklemore. It is a song about drugs and bad influence.

In the beginning he raps about someone who was addicted to drugs and died because of an overdose.: 'But Goddamn he loved that feelin. Purple rain coated in the throat. Just so healin'. Medicine alleviate the sickness'
After that he begins to rap about how rappers can have a bad influence on kids these days. : 'Us as rapper underrestimate the power and the effects that we have on these kids.'

I really like the songs from Macklemore, because there is always a true meaning in his lyrics. He doesn't rap about money, drugs and alcohol like some other rappers. It are these kind of rappers that have got a bad influence on kids. Because they learn them that it is normal these days to do drugs and drink alcohol.
